Virtual Sight Seeing At Scottsbluff National Monument In Nebraska

The most prominent feature of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, is the National Monument .    Scottsbluff National Monument is a natural formation that was named after one of the town's former residents.  It is an awesome sight with a museum that contains the area's rich history. No visit to the Monument is complete without a drive up to the top, where you will find an amazing view.  There are also several hiking trails in the park.  You can even check out some pretty cool wagons & bull sculptures. Scottsbluff may be a small town, but there is definitely some cool stuph to see & do.

Cookie's Kitchen Comfort Food- Let's Make Some Yummy Cheezy Potato Soup

This cheesy potato soup is souper nummy.  Don't let the fact that it is a Weight Watcher's recipe fool you into thinking it won't taste good.  It is totally delish. As you all know- I typically don't follow recipes to the "T."  For this one, the main adjustment I made was adding ham.  I didn't measure the ingredients but that really doesn't make that much of a difference in the end with this particular recipe since it is just potatoes & spices. As long as you only eat one serving 😄 it is all good.  You really have to try this recipe because it is really good.     Try it at home & let me know how you liked it- and be sure to subscribe so you won't miss any of the recipes I share & other fun stuph .

Hangin' Out At Lake Minatare- The Heart of the Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Panhandle

On the outskirts of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, lies a popular recreational area.  People love to flock to Lake Minatare to swim, fish, ski or just hang out & have a picnic.  It can get a bit breezy at the lake.  At times, the swells can resemble ocean waves. There is also a campground .  People converge on the area every year- even during a pandemic.  I guess it would be a good vacation option with the perfect scenario for social distancing.   I found Lake Minatare an interesting little gem among miles of flatland covered with corn fields.

Just A Girl & Her Chevy Truck

When Trent first came into my life in 2003, I wanted nothing to do with him.  I had been driving small cars for years & I really liked them.  They are great on gas mileage & you can park them almost anywhere.  I was coerced- no pushed- into driving a half hour to look at a huge, gas-hog of a truck I wanted nothing to do with.  Somehow, I let myself get talked into buying him. I gradually got used to him- then I fell in love with him.  Since I was up higher, I could see more when I was driving. I also felt very safe on the highway.  Compared to what I was used to, it was like driving a tank.  If I ever wrecked, I might not walk away unscathed but at least I would fare better than in a smaller vehicle.  Plus, you can haul practically anything in this truck. Over the years, I have grown more and more attached to Trent.  He got me through the worst moments of my life.  A few years ago, the monster tried to take him from me- but fortunately, those efforts failed.  Now, Trent & I

Not Your Traditional Rock- But A Steadfast, Reliable Guide

About a half hour from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, stands a pretty cool monument.  Known today as the Chimney Rock , the attraction has had many names over the years.  Regardless of what it has been called, it has remained a guiding landmark for travelers over the centuries. It is an interesting looking natural structure that many enjoy visiting each year.  A small museum at the sight contains many interesting artifacts of yesteryear.  It is a fun little excursion for travelers of all ages.  It is easy to find- sticking out like a sore thumb in the middle of miles of flat land and corn crops.

Cookie's Consumer Tips

The old saying goes "the customer is always right" - but in these chaotic times it doesn't always seem to be practiced.  If you have occasions where you feel you are not getting the best service, you may want to use a few of the tips in this video. In such situations, it is important to remember another saying- "patience is a virtue."  Start out speaking kindly to the person you contact.  Present the facts without getting your emotions involved.  Be firm but congenial.  Progress with more firmness but remain calm & reasonable.  Never yell or use belligerent language. I prefer to use email because then I have proof of what I have done to get results- not the online submission forms found on some websites but email sent from my personal account.  It is difficult to get court approval for recordings of phone conversations if you end up having to go that route.   If you have   to use the phone & can't accomplish anything with the first person you talk to

Rich History & Lots of Fun At Dobby's Frontier Town In Alliance, Nebraska

I think the coolest thing I found when I was in Nebraska was Dobby's Frontier Town .  It was totally cool to find this little gem. This attraction is made up of buildings depicting life during pioneer times.  What makes the old time experience even more unique is that it is located in a tiny town of just over 8,000 residents.  You can tour this little simulated town without charge- but donations are greatly appreciated & help with the upkeep.   This is definitely one of the best things I found as I was wandering aimlessly all over the country.  Be sure to check out their web page to learn more about this awesome sight.  And if you ever make it near Alliance, be sure to stop in at Dobby's Frontier Town.  It's totally worth a detour!

"Free" Medical Services- Are They Really Free?

You see it everywhere you go- FREE flu shots... FREE  shingles shots... FREE  pneumonia shots.   FREE  this... FREE  that...  Practically every pharmacy advertises these services.  But have you ever looked at the fine print on those ads & window signs?   The fine print typically says something like, "with most insurances."  You personally won't have to pay a fee but the services definitely are not actually FREE .  Your insurance will be charged for the treatment or service.  And if your insurance does not cover it-- well-- it won't be free.  Maybe they should come up with some more appropriate wording. Just sayin'

Artsy Cars In Western 'Braska

About an hour from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, is a little town called Alliance.  There you will find Carhenge . Carhenge is a unique variation of Stonehenge.  It actually has a pretty unique history, which you can read at the webpage . The sight is free to visit & there is a gift shop for souvenirs.  Even snakes like to hang out there. 😆
