Cookie's Kookie Family Tree's obvious that I have hit a dead end with daddy at this point.  So, we will move on for now- at least, until some answers appear.

Today, I will be telling you a little about my Aunt Ila/Ilau.  She was, me thinks, daddy's least favorite person.  More about that later.  But for now, I will share what I have learned about her so far.

According to the Butte Township US Census of 1900, her name was spelled Ila and she was 3 years old and living with her parents, William & Mary.  They were both from California and William was a teamster.  This record also shows that she had a sister named Eugene who was 5 years old.

The 1910 US Census for Sisson, California again lists her parents.  However, this documents records her name as Illa.  She was 13 years old & my grandmother was 7 years old.  There is no record of Eugene.  I have learned that my grandmother had a sister named Eugenie & that she died in childhood, so this makes sense.  Their brother Lawrence is listed as being 8 months old at the time.  Her dad was a teamster working as a wood dealer.  So, I am assuming that meant he sold lumber?

The 1918 Voter Registration Record revealed that she was a stenographer.  At this point, she was living in San Francisco, California.  However, in April 1921 she decided to go to Honolulu, Hawaii, for some reason.  It took her 6 days to get there.

Auntie did not come home for 5 whole months.  I don't know if she took a temporary job or tried to move there or took an extended vacation or ???  The next record I found for her shows that she returned to San Francisco in September 1921.  Upon her return, she stayed in the Plaza Hotel- for how long I do not know.

The 1930 US Census for Mott, California, shows that she married a George Leonard Morrison from Missouri.  He owned a meat market.  This document shows her name as being Ilau and that she was 32 years old at that time.  They had a daughter named Mary Lee that was 3 years old.  Apparently, her brother Lawrence was living with them.  He was 20 years old at the time & was a salesman at a grocery store.

The 1940 Census for San Jose, California, lists her as Pearl Arnett.  Pearl was her middle name.  She was 43 years old & had divorced old Georgie Porgie.  She was doing housework in a private home & had two daughters, Vivian who was 14 and Gayle who was 12.
But in the 1949 Santa Rosa, California directory, she was back living with Georgie Porgie on Petaluma Hill Road.  What's up with that?

The Social Security Death Index Records show that Ilau Morrison died on December 29, 1979, in Butte City, California.  She was 83 at the time.  I was 7 but never met her- most likely because of daddy's disdain for her.  Come back next week & I will tell you why- and we will see what else we can dig up on her.
