Freedom Friday- Weight Loss Goals, Achievements, and Rewards

The past six months of my adventure have definitely been interesting.  I have learned so much about how my system processes foods.  I am so grateful for my health coach because between her guidance and experiences I have had, I have been able to make adjustments in order to achieve my goals.

As you can see, I have lost quite a bit of weight—but that is not the only accomplishment I have made.  I have mentioned in prior posts that I feel a lot better.  I am able to breathe better and am experiencing less pain.  I am also getting stronger—I can walk much further than I could before.  All of this is making me very happy and excited.  I am already starting to make plans to do some fun activities in the upcoming spring and summer—things I never would have even considered a year ago.

I want to do some hikes and maybe some rafting excursions.  It would be totally awesome to do some camping too.  I have camped several times over the past few years, but it is still exciting to look forward to.  I have a few other things I want to do once the snow melts, but those will be a surprise.  In the meantime, I am loving the time I am getting in clearing snow.  It is great exercise and I love doing it. What can I say—I have issues.

Overall, I am pretty happy with the success I have had in my new healthy lifestyle.  Over half of the weight I have lost so far is actual fat.  The total amount of visceral fat—that located around my waist—has gone down by 4 points.  I only have 5 more points to go until I am within the normal range!  Plus, my BMI has come down over 7 points.  I am very happy about that.  I still have a ways to go, but at least I am heading in the right direction.

One thing I would like to mention is that the weight loss I have posted about may seem to fluctuate a bit.  Some of this can be attributed to the use of different scales.  I have been meeting with my health coach every other week, so when I weigh in between the weight may not always match up with that recorded during my appointment.  This demonstrates how important it is to have a designated accurate scale to periodically weigh on.

My appointments will now be monthly, so the weight I post in my blog may occasionally vary.  The important thing at this point is—my official weight is down 55 pounds.  That’s over 15% of my starting weight.  Experts say that losing 10% of unhealthy body weight can result in a significant improvement in overall health.  I am really happy to have achieved as much as I have so far and can’t wait until I reach my next 50 pound loss.

I am already noticing a lot of differences.  I have previously mentioned several times in past posts that my clothes are getting very—very—lose.  I can also see a difference in the shape of my calves and arms.  My fingers are starting to get thinner too.  I was watching some of my older videos the other day and noticed a pretty big difference in my face and neck as well.  Seeing all of these results is making me really happy.  I do not enjoy being a big cow and can’t wait until I achieve my ultimate goal.

I feel like periodic rewards are an important aspect of trying to reach any sort of goal.  I mentioned some of my rewards in my video—foofoo coffees and my awesome new shoes.  I so love my new shoes.  😁  I am starting to think ahead to my 100 pound weight loss goal.  I am not sure what I want it to be.  I still have time to think about it but if you have any ideas be sure to post them below.  I actually have quite a bit of weight to lose, so I will need several reward ideas.

I don’t want to use food rewards, but a special lobster dinner might be one LOL.  When I was telling my health coach about my difficulty in choosing my 50 pound reward, I said that I went out and bought myself a big fat chocolate cake.  You should have seen her face—it was so funny.  😆  I wouldn’t do that for two reasons—I don’t want to undo all of my hard work and I really don’t care so much for sweets anymore.  I would eat one or two bites of the cake and the rest would end up in the garbage.  I’d rather have shoes.  😊

A lot of people are getting ready to set goals for the coming year.  I feel like I kinda have a head start and am going full steam ahead.  If you are thinking about some goal that you would like to achieve, check out my previous posts and follow along with me in my endeavors.  Maybe I will be able to give you some ideas of how you can achieve your goals.
